Scott Meade began his research for Twisted Christians. The only thing that he knew for sure about this story was that:
It wasn't until May 2009, after all of his research was complete, when he had finally begun to write the story. He had no outline for this novel. He prayed and wrote. With the goal of writing five pages per day, he had completed the first draft of Twisted Christians by early August 2009. The majority of the novel came to him in dreams. He would wake up and write the dreams on paper, sometimes even before getting his first cup of coffee. The entire first draft was handwritten inside of three notebooks. If this novel ever becomes a motion picture, Scott Meade is already the first to have seen it.
While working on the third draft of Twisted Christians, Scott Meade had an idea. He decided to offer unsigned musicians an opportunity to be mentioned in his first novel. By the time the book was published, eight bands had decided to jump onboard:
